Where to find Alabama Officials Online

Tue. Oct. 27, 12:55pm EST

I have been discussing for some time the need to get more of our elected officials to interact and offer constituent services online.  Toward that end, I have added a new feature to The World Around You, a page called Alabama Officials & Social Media.  I intend for it to be a one-stop shop to find out where you can find your elected representatives online, or not, as the case may be.  I hope you will express your appreciation to your representatives that have made themselves accessible online and perhaps question those who have not.

I chose to only include information regarding Facebook, Twitter and Politics4All.com on the inline documents on the page itself.  There is also a link to the master spreadsheets that will allow you to see information about e-mail, personal websites as well as the phone numbers and office numbers for legislators.  I will say that there are some representatives who have gone the personal website/e-mail route for consitutuent communication and are doing it well, but have not yet integrated that activity with a Facebook or Twitter page, which would not be hard to do.

I hope that by tracking this information on a consistent basis all Alabama citizens will be able to be more fully engaged with their representatives in government.

As always, your thoughts and reactions are appreciated below.
