Mullings 1.25.10: A must-read

Mon. Jan. 25, 10:45am EST

You guys know I periodically refer to the thrice-weekly columns written by GOP pundit Rich Galen.

I say periodically because, as his Twitter bio indicates, Rich is a “political hack and proud of it.“ I’m not so interested in the politics as the policy. But as Rich knows, sometimes, they’re impossible to separate.

This is one of those times.

You simply must take a few minutes and read Rich’s latest column. He deals with the moves the Obama Administration has made over the past week—especially since Scott Brown turned Massachusetts red.

Rich is pretty funny. For example:

The spitting and fussing among Democrats as to who knew what about the race in Massachusetts, when they knew it, and what they did about it was so much fun to watch, I actually bought popcorn to eat as I watched the cable chat shows.

For lesser hacks, that would be hyperbole, a figure of speech. But knowing Rich, he probably really did.

Rich goes on to discuss what the Obama Administration did to change the storyline from the GOP victory (is it more appropriately called the Democratic collapse?) in Massachusetts and how President Obama isn’t even pretending anymore that politics isn’t a part—a big part—of what goes on in the West Wing.

Pay particular attention to the poll results from the Massachusetts special—especially the one that says that Brown, the Republican, carried union voters by 3 percent.

The REPUBLICAN candidates! Carried UNION VOTERS!! In MASSACHUSETTS!!

As Rich said, he only won them by three ... but he should have lost them by 40.

Now you know why President Obama is hitting the panic button.

Read Rich’s column. It’s full of good stuff.
