According to the package insert, a multi-dose vial of the H1N1 flu vaccine contains about 25 micrograms of ethyl mercury per dose. The jury is out over whether this additive is harmful. Here is an op-ed piece in the NYT about some of the fears. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/12/opinion/12offit.html . You can determine on your own whether you believe the premise of this piece or not. Interesting though that if this bill had passed, the multi-dose version of the H1N1 vaccine would be banned.

If you break an old fashion thermometer and play with the ethyl mercury or even drink it - it will not hurt you or even make you sick. But the type in those new energy saving light bulbs can harm you when you break them. people need to study a little chemistry and fight what is really a danger.

People don't trust the government, good, we shouldn't - but don't make the mistake of banning safe things that do good (like we did with DDT).
