Dr. Stan Cooke is a gifted communicator, administrator, pastor, teacher and small business owner. He is the Founder and President of an international Christian missions organization that supports programs in the Middle East.

Stan was born in Jasper, Alabama and was raised in the small coal mining town of Sumiton that is located in eastern Walker County. He attended Sumiton Elementary School, Sumiton Jr. High and graduated from Dora High School.

Stan would work summer jobs at the V. J. Elmore’s warehouse in Homewood and at several coal mines operated by Drummond Coal to earn money to be able to attend college. He would earn 6 degrees and would be the first of his family to graduate college and earn a Ph.D.

During his early years [serving as a Youth Director, Christian Education Director and Pastor of a small church] - Stan worked full-time as a warehouse manager for Immediate Business Systems, Fisher Scientific and as an Instructor at Virginia College. Stan Cooke has over 29 years [full-time and part-time] of ministerial experience serving in several capacities. His secular work experience spans over 17 years working in several different industries.

Stan Cooke’s earned degrees include areas of study such as Theology, Physical Science, Biblical Studies, English, Christian Education, Astronomy, Comparative Religion, Education Leadership & Technology and Higher Education Administration.

Stan Cooke has worked on several campaigns on the state and local level.

  • Toggle Congress: Term Lilmits

    If elected, one of the first bills that I will introduce will concern term limits.

    Term Limit Proposal  

    1. 8 years maximum in the House or Senate.

    2. After 8 years in the House a person can never run for a seat in the House again.

    3. After 8 years in the Senate a person can never run for a seat in the Senate again.

    4. A person can run for a seat in the other chamber where they have never served.

    Term limits are needed at all levels of government. Because of the large electoral advantages used by incumbents, the historically low rate of turnover, the greater threat from special interests, and the unique power that federal legislators hold, it is especially important to apply term limits to Congress.

    Term limits are needed to counterbalance the incumbent’s advantages. Congressional term limits are a necessary corrective to inequalities which inevitably hinder challengers and aid incumbents.

    “The Constitution,” pledged George Washington, “is the guide which I will never abandon.” This great document is central to securing “the Blessing of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

    The defense policy of the United States should be based on a simple premise: The United States does not start fights. We will never be an aggressor. We maintain our strength in order to deter and defend against aggression—to preserve freedom and peace.

    We must give full funding and support to develop and maintain the greatest military force possible so that the American people can enjoy Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness .  A national defense policy based on strategic independence, which resists military intervention unless American vital interests are at stake.

    Some Specifics - Full development and deployment of the Missile Defense Shield for all U.S.A. vital interest. Bring the war in Iraq and Afganistan to a quick and decisive end that accomplishes a clear victory.

    Realize that the “War on Terror” is actually a religious war between extreme elements of Islam and those that they believe to be enemies of their belief system. A defense policy should be developed that addresses that fact and actions taken accordingly.

    America is at a crisis point. Our national future is at stake. Our country, as we have known it, is in jeopardy. Never before in the history of our civilized governments has one nation faced so many obstacles as we do today.

    Freedom and Liberty are being challenged by the evils of socialism and the constraints of big government. We must remember that our freedoms are just one generation away from extinction. We cannot pass our freedoms and liberties to our children in the blood stream. They must be defended, protected, and handed down to the next generation... to do the same. If not, we will spend our remaining years telling our grandchildren what it was like in the United States of America where people once were free.

    I'm asking you for your support and your vote. Together, we the people, can take back our government from professional politicians and reduce it to the proper size. We can chart a new course for taxation, education, and fiscal responsibility. We must protect our Constitution and defend our borders. We must set the American people free to work, invent and create the opportunities that will solve this crisis.     Develop American Natural Resources, Oil, Coal, Water & Nuclear

    Support the immediate drilling for oil and natural gas in Anwar and where discovered in the other continental states - on land and off shore.

    Remove all federal regulations that has hindered or stopped the development of our natural resources. Bring an end to the dependence on foreign energy supplies.

    Build new refineries in each state as a part of a strong, national energy policy. This would also be apart of a strong defense policy.

    Begin building and using nuclear facilities in every state possible.

    Expand coal mining. Fully develop and use the latest coal technologies.

    Expand the use of hydro-electric power where possible.

    Develop an Federal environmental policy for Federal lands only.  Allow the States to develop their own environmental policy which is their right according to the 10th Amendment.

    Free Market Capitalism Without Government Regulation

    Free market capitalism is the life blood of a democratic-republic. The American people are over taxed and the Federal Government over spends. A balanced budget is demanded and must be the requirement. A balanced budget amendment must be passed.

    Stop government intervention such as buy-outs, bail-outs and stimulus plans. Realize that the markets always correct themselves and that government intervention only makes the final correction worse.

    Call for a complete audit of the Federal Reserve. Place the Dollar back on the Gold Standard.

  • Toggle Taxation: A New Taxation Policy Is Needed Based On The Constitution

    Full Support Of The Fair Tax System

    According to the original intent of the Constitution, one of only few things that the Federal Government reserved the right to tax was for the support of national defense. We read in the Preamble the following - “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

    Providing for the common defense in today’s terminology means a strong military, secured borders and a federally maintained interstate highway system.

    All other authority for taxation should be reserved to the States according the 10th Amendment.  The Fair Tax proposal is currently the only option that recognizes the constitutional limitations placed on the Federal Government and the authority that is given to the State governments.

    Until a version of the Fair Tax is passed with constitutional provisions and as an Amendment - the following must take place: the Reagan Tax cut plans of the 1980’s should be adopted again; corporate taxes, the marriage penalty tax, and Unified Gift and Estate Tax must be eliminated. These are just a few things that can be done while working to pass a Fair Tax Amendment.

    Reverse All Gun Bans - Full Support Of The 2nd Amendment 

    Full support must be given to the States to be able to adopt the new gun laws.

    The idea is that since the federal government justifies its regulations using the interstate commerce clause of the U.S. Constitution, it has no authority to regulate intrastate trade in firearms.

    In a nation governed by the people themselves, the possession of arms to defend their nation against usurpers within and without was deemed absolutely necessary. This right was protected by the 2nd Amendment. "The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." Thomas Jefferson to John Cartwright, 1824.

     
    George Washington: "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth (and) keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them [guns] by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference [crime]. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour."

    McCain Feingold is a disaster. The very set of circumstances that it was supposed to prevent has been made worse. The corruption of political campaigns has increased and the power of incumbents has grown stronger. From the date that McCain-Feingold was signed into law until now, more Conservative-Republicans have been defeated and more liberal-Democrats have been elected.

    Both Republican and Democrat law makers have become money making machines [cash cows] for their respective parties which allows these politicians to support their “friendly groups” back home - and in turn, it buys them political protection from election to election from any and all challengers.

    This is my proposal for true campaign finance reform.

    1. House of Representatives - A member of the House of Representatives or a candidate running for a District Seat should only be able to receive donations from individuals or businesses that have an physical address in that same District. No donations could be received from any person or business from outside of the District.

    2. U.S. Senate -  A member of the Senate or a candidate running for a Senate Seat should only be able to receive donations from individuals or businesses that have an physical address in that State. No donations could be received from any person or business from outside of that State.

    3. All third party group donations [such as PACS or bundled donations] would be illegal. Political Party support could only be given for general elections.

  • Toggle Immigration: Finding The Solution To Illegal Immigration

    Immigrants are coming to America for the same reasons our founding families came hundreds of years ago: freedom and economic opportunity.

    The U.S. economy continues to create thousands of jobs each year for lower-skilled workers in important areas such as retail, hospitality, cleaning, landscaping, food preparation, and agriculture. The number of Americans who have traditionally filled those jobs that require no high school diploma continues to shrink and immigrants are taking those jobs.

    Our current immigration policy does not offer a legal path for peace loving, hardworking immigrants to enter the United States legally so that they can fill those jobs that Americans do not want.

    Numerical limits for legal immigration and a revised worker program must be adopted while at the same time deporting all illegal aliens. The current policy of allowing access to U.S. social programs by illegal aliens must be stopped.

    We must put a stop to the influx of illegal aliens to the 6th District and to Alabama which has put an unsustainable burden on our infrastructure, including education, health care, and law enforcement.

    Legal immigration must be protected, respected and honored.
