I do not want to be heartless here, but this bill says that 129 people have died in fire-related deaths since Jan. 2000; 80% of which occurred off-campus. So roughly one person per month has died since Jan. 2000 due to fire and perhaps it was because they didn't have a battery in their fire-alarm or didn't have one altogether. So now, I am to understand, are we going to REALLY save lives by making September Campus Fire Safety Month? REALLY?

I think that the schools can certainly designate this month as such, but I really still don't see where and how it matters to waste tax-payer money to have our Congress pass bills naming months like this.
